CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) — Federal officials recently confiscated six illegal card skimmers in Cleveland as part of a nationwide crackdown on the devices that steal bank and EBT card information.
The U.S. Secret Service conducted the operation in January, seizing equipment capable of stealing millions of dollars from unsuspecting victims who use ATM and point-of-sale terminals.
“We have conducted nearly 30 operations across the country, and this team came to Cleveland,” said Assistant Special Agent in Charge Michael Peck of the U.S. Secret Service.
