Gunshot Rocks Cleveland Heights Hoodie Meetup Gone Bad

What was supposed to be a routine hoodie handoff turned frightening on Monday, when police say a buyer pulled a gun during an online-sales meetup in Cleveland Heights’ Coventry neighborhood. A teenage seller was left shaken but not seriously hurt, and officers at the scene recovered a single 9mm shell casing after witnesses said the teen tackled the armed suspect.

How The Hoodie Deal Went Sideways

According to Cleveland.com, the meetup was arranged after an online sale and took place near Coventry Road and Euclid Heights Boulevard. When the two parties met, witnesses told police the would-be buyer tried to grab the hoodie instead of paying for it, and a struggle broke out.

During that scuffle, the suspect allegedly fired a single shot, then took off. Witnesses described him as wearing a green hooded sweatshirt and a baseball cap, and one person reported seeing a Honda SUV make a quick U-turn near the scene as the chaos unfolded, Cleveland.com reported.

Nearby Shooting Rattled Street Days Earlier

Just days before the hoodie encounter, a separate round of gunfire shook a residential block a short drive away. On the 900 block of Dresden Road, bullets struck a home on the 900 block of Dresden Road, with one round tearing into a kitchen while a resident was inside. A passing vehicle was also hit, but no one was injured. Police later took two suspects into custody in connection with that incident.
