New video tied to murder of Lyft driver: I-Team

CLEVELAND (WJW) – Video released to the FOX 8 I-Team shows part of what investigators are going over as they continue to investigate the murders of two Lyft drivers and the assault of a third.

A city of Cleveland security camera captured the car driven by Lyft driver Vasyl Shvets prior to the shooting. Shvets was shot and killed last month providing a ride to two 17-year-old suspects. The teens have been arrested and are facing charges.

We learned detectives are still investigating. The shooting happened in the 2400 block of East 84th in Cleveland but someone from Arizona had actually placed the order for that ride.

Cuyahoga County prosecutors already are asking a juvenile court judge to have those two teen suspects tried as adults. If the juvenile judge approves the motion, prosecutors will then take the case to a grand jury and the juveniles could face charges in adult court.

Shvets’ case happened the same week as a deadly shooting of another Lyft driver. A suspect in that case is now indicted and pleading not guilty. Another Lyft driver in Cleveland ended up assaulted as he picked up a rider a few days later. Two people are facing charges in that case…
