A close call: Cleveland mom, daughter grateful to be safe after tree crashes onto home

CLEVELAND (WJW) – There were some very close calls for Northeast Ohioans on Friday, as powerful winds toppled trees across the region, in some cases falling on houses and cars.

Among the most fortunate storm victims were a Cleveland woman and her daughter.

It was just after 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon that firefighters rushed to their home on West 130th Street, just north of Lorain Avenue, after high winds sheared off the top half of a large tree on the tree lawn.

The top end crashed down onto the porch of the home, causing it to collapse. The heavy branches also damaged the roof…
