Eastlake man sentenced to 5 years after a Willoughby Police narcotics investigation

WILLOUGHBY, Ohio (WOIO) – An Eastlake man was sentenced to five years in prison after a Willoughby Police narcotics investigation back in 2025.

On March 12, Robert Murton, 43, of Eastlake, was sentenced to five years in prison on charges from the Willoughby Police and Mentor Police, which include the following:

  • Three counts of trafficking in drugs
  • One count of possession of drugs for methamphetamine
  • One count of possession of drugs for psilocybin
  • One count of possession of criminal tools
  • One count of resisting arrest
  • One count of failure to comply
  • One count of obstructing official business
  • One count of falsification

The investigation ran from Dec. 9, 2025, to Dec. 18, 2025, where detectives with the Willoughby Police Department conducted multiple controlled purchases of methamphetamine from Murton

After the final purchase, officers pulled Murton over on Lost Nation Road.

Police said that Murton gave officers a fake name and refused to get out of the car during the stop. Officers said they physically removed him after a brief struggle…
