Competency hearings set for 2 children charged in assault of 5-year-old Cleveland girl

CLEVELAND — A Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court judge is considering whether media outlets can record upcoming competency hearings for two children charged in the assault of a 5-year-old girl last September in Cleveland. She could announce her decision as soon as Thursday.

The children — a now 9-year-old boy and 11-year-old girl — each face nine counts including attempted murder, rape and strangulation.
