Children and nostalgic adults alike can enjoy the city’s newest addition, Sweets & Geeks, a candy and game store at 6527 Brecksville Rd. in Independence Square.
Sweets & Geeks launched a soft opening in February in the former CVS space and is the fifth location of the privately owned company, with the main hub in Medina. According to the store website, the owners of Sweets & Geeks have operated card/collectibles stores in the greater Cleveland area for 20 years.
The Independence location is an expansion east from the stores in Wooster, Sandusky and North Olmsted. “This was a smaller community,” said Independence store manager Matt VanDiest. “We look for areas with no gaming stores around.”
Customers can find traditional board games, puzzles and LEGOs as well as themed merchandise: Harry Potter, Super Mario and Disney. Feature items include Funko Pops, collectible vinyl figures of pop culture characters, and trading cards; Pokémon and Magic: The Gathering being the most popular…
