5 Cuyahoga County school districts asking voters for money in May: What each wants

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Five Cuyahoga County school districts have questions on the May 5 ballot to raise money, at a time when state funding increases have slowed and a proposed ballot measure could eliminate property taxes.

Lakewood and Solon are asking for property tax increases to help with ongoing expenses to educate children. Strongsville is also asking for a property tax increase that it wants to use to repay bonds for school construction and upgrades.

Independence is asking for a combined bond issuance and earned-income property tax, which together would pay for new building construction…
