It’s not you, it’s Burke: Air Show threatens to leave Cleveland if airport closes, Bibb wants to talk things out

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cleveland National Air Show is threatening to break up with the city if Burke Lakefront Airport closes, and when Mayor Justin Bibb calls to work things out, his team claims they’re being ghosted.

Meanwhile, the Air Show is doing what anyone does when a relationship is on the rocks: asking friends to intervene. This week the event organizers invited fans to email Bibb, U.S. Senators Bernie Moreno and Jon Husted, and Councilman Charles Slife, urging them to save Burke Lakefront Airport — and by extension, the Air Show itself.

But Bibb’s team says the Air Show won’t even come to the table. Executive Director Kim Dell has drawn a hard line: if Burke closes, the Air Show “would cease to exist.”…
