CLEVELAND, Ohio -Around 410 full-time Cleveland Metropolitan School District employees of about 6,500 total are losing their jobs as part of the layoff the state’s third largest school system announced last week, CEO Warren Morgan said Monday afternoon.
The layoffs, combined with the closure of 29 of its 88 schools and cuts in the district’s central office, will save around $50 million a year, Morgan said in a video call with reporters.
“As I’ve shared before, we were looking for $150 million (in budget reductions) over the course of three years,” he said. “So if you take $50 million times three, that’s where you’ll get your $150 million in savings.”…
