Severe storms, tornado threat target Northeast Ohio Saturday before frost, freeze risk arrives

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Northeast Ohio is under threat of strong to severe thunderstorms Saturday afternoon, with damaging winds, large hail and the possibility of a tornado before a sharp cooldown brings frost and freeze concerns early next week.

The National Weather Service in Cleveland issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook early Saturday as showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop ahead of a cold front during the afternoon. Some storms could become severe as warmer air surges into the region before temperatures tumble later in the day.
