West Side Market transformation gets $763K state grant

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The West Side Market has won a $763,750 award from the state to help with the cleanup of asbestos and lead as part of the $70 million renovation now underway.

The work on the 114-year-old market was one of 160 projects to receive funding Thursday from the Brownfield Remediation Program overseen by the Ohio Department of Development.

According to a press release from the Ohio Department of Development, the money is targeted for “remaining asbestos abatement, lead remediation, and interior demolition within Cleveland’s iconic West Side Market and its adjacent arcade to safely prepare the complex for a major redevelopment effort.”…
