Ronald McDonald House in Colorado Springs goes solar

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Ronald McDonald House in Colorado Springs (RMHCSC) had solar panels valued at nearly $300,000 installed on Wednesday, June 17, after two and a half years of planning.

Nine local and out-of-state businesses and two local foundations collaborated to provide the materials, labor, and funds to make the project happen.

“They all stepped up. They all wanted to help. They all took it super seriously, you know, and pulled the project together,” said Kenny Kingery, Chief Revenue Officer of IE Construction.

The solar array will reduce the annual electricity bill for the charity by two-thirds and generate long-term savings, allowing RMHCSC to support critically ill children and their families in Southern Colorado, Northern New Mexico, Western Kansas, and beyond…
