UPDATE: Lane closures on SB I-25 remain after crews respond to fire

UPDATE: MONDAY 7/13/2026 4:01 p.m.

(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The Monument Fire Protection District (MFD) stated that, thanks to the cooperation of multiple agencies, the fire off I-25 between Baptist Road and Northgate Boulevard was kept to four acres, and no injuries were reported.

According to MFD, responding agencies included the Colorado Springs Fire Department, the U.S. Air Force Academy, Larkspur Fire, Palmer Lake Fire, Colorado Springs Utilities, El Paso County Wildland, Colorado Department of Transportation, and Colorado State Patrol.

The fire is under investigation.

The two right lanes on southbound I-25 between Baptist Road (Exit 158) and Northgate Boulevard (Exit 156) remain closed after crews responded to a fire in the area on Monday afternoon, July 13, around 1:30 p.m.

According to COtrip, drivers heading southbound should expect about a 23-minute delay in the area. Detours remain in place, and slower speeds are advised.
