COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) — A new report from the Council on Criminal Justice (CCJ) shows Colorado Springs saw an over 50% decrease in homicides so far this year compared to the first six months of 2025.
That drop is one of the largest in the 30 cities that provided data to CCJ. The data also showed the city had seen a drop in the number of car thefts.
The report from CCJ looked at 13 offenses across 36 cities. Across all the cities, officials report nine of the 13 offenses saw overall lower numbers in the first half of 2026 compared to the first half of 2025.
