(NewsNation) — Luigi Mangione, accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, is opposing restrictions on public access to his trial.
According to a new court filing, Mangione’s legal team is seeking to broadcast the trial live. The team argued the court should not limit public and media access to the trial by selecting certain members of the press to attend.
“To be clear, the defense is not impugning the objectivity or independence of the reporters chosen to cover the trial. Rather, the defense objects to any process, and certainly one in which he had no involvement, where a small percentage of reporters seeking to cover the proceedings are permitted to do so,” the filing stated…
