COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Fuel prices are continuing to rise, with the cost of diesel growing to about $6.18 a gallon in Colorado.
Experts say when fuel becomes more costly, there can be a trickle-down effect for other goods that are shipped and bought by consumers.
Drivers look for savings
At a Circle K gas station in Colorado Springs, people are trying to save as much as possible with 40 cents of discounted gas on Thursday.
Economist points to “sneaky inflation”
Economist Bill Craighead said that often when these prices go up, it leads to what he called sneaky inflation. He said that is when there is a steady increase in goods across the board when things like fuel prices go up, and companies have to pass that cost along to consumers.
Grocery store sources products locally
Bread and Butter, a grocery store off Nevada Avenue in Colorado Springs, said it has been able to avoid costly increases by sourcing products locally. Co-owner Stacy Poore said sourcing locally has been a big help in keeping the store’s costs down…
