(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — After a week of precipitation, fog and flooding, the weekend ends calmly for Southern Colorado. Temperatures for Sunday, Oct. 4, remained in the low seventies, which will be the coolest day the Pikes Peak Region sees for the rest of the work week. A heat wave pushing in from the West Coast is already impacting Colorado.
Clear conditions and a slight breeze from the southwest are clear signs of the high-pressure system over the Great Basin moving into the region. In other words, expect above-average temperatures for at least the next week. There is an Extreme Heat Warning in effect for Southern California. This is the longest-lasting Extreme Heat Warning that Los Angeles or San Diego has seen in October in over 20 years.
Colorado Springs is expecting 80-degree highs lasting until possibly Wednesday, Oct. 7. Precipitation possibilities have also completely dried up until possibly next Sunday, Oct. 11, but that may also be unlikely if high pressure continues to exert dominance over the region…
