Father and Son Arrested in Connection to Attempted Murder of Teen Girl in Colorado Springs

The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has announced the arrest of a father and son duo in connection to a shooting that left a teen girl injured earlier this month. The incident unfolded around 8:30 p.m. on January 18 in the 4000 block of Colony Hills Circle, just west of the intersection of Jet Wing Drive and South Academy Boulevard.

Upon receiving a report of a shooting, officers rushed to the scene to find a residence in the targeted crossfire. A teenage girl was discovered with a serious gunshot wound and was promptly transported to the hospital. As of January 18, reports indicate that the victim remains stable.

After an extensive investigation, CSPD issued arrest warrants for 46-year-old Ruben Segovia Sr. and his 22-year-old son, Ruben Segovia Jr., on January 23. According to CSPD, both individuals were apprehended on the same day.

Ruben Segovia Jr. faces a series of charges in connection to the shooting, including:

  • Five counts of Attempted First Degree Murder
  • First Degree Assault
  • Illegal Discharge of a Firearm
  • Tampering with Evidence
