(Colorado Springs, CO) Colorado’s feathered friends are taking center stage this weekend at the Starsmore Visitor and Nature Center‘s 6th annual Winter Bird Festival.
On Saturday, January 27th, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., enjoy family-friendly activities including crafts, games and bird walks. There is a suggested $5 donation per family.
The Starsmore Visitor and Nature Center is a hidden gem located at the entrance of North Cheyenne CaƱon Park in southwest Colorado Springs. It has interactive displays about birds, butterflies, wildlife, and nature.
There is a bird-watching window with several bird feeders so visitors can enjoy feathered friends from a temperature-controlled spot.
Outside the center, there is a short nature trail with access to longer hikes if desired.
The Starsmore Center is in a two-story historic home built in 1922 by William Starsmore and his son, James (Jim). The century-old stone structure originally sat at the NW corner of Nevada Avenue and Cheyenne Road, where a McDonald’s restaurant is now.
