SECURITY-WIDEFIELD, Colo. – In the wake of a fatal shooting incident involving law enforcement in Security-Widefield, officers and deputies have been placed on administrative leave as the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) conducts an investigation.

The incident unfolded in the early hours of Saturday, Jan. 27. CSPD was notified shortly after 1:30 a.m. about an event that occurred around an hour earlier in Security-Widefield. The initial response was to a report from an El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) deputy, who observed a man walking south on Security Boulevard with a gun at approximately 12:38 a.m.

EPSO deputies, along with officers from the Fountain Police Department (FPD), located the suspect near the intersection of Security Boulevard and Crawford Avenue, just east of U.S. 85/87.
