(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A dog was shot in the late evening hours of Monday, Feb. 5, an incident that the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said stemmed from an altercation weeks prior.
CSPD said on Monday, at around 8:45 p.m. officers were called to a domestic violence disturbance with shots fired in the 6400 block of Rocky Bluff Point near Dublin Boulevard and Rangewood Drive.
When officers arrived, they learned the suspect, later identified as Ryan Longo, had allegedly shot a dog multiple times without provocation. The dog was being walked by a friend of the owner, and police initially believed the shooting could be connected to a stalking case.
Through the investigation, police learned the dog had been involved in an altercation with another dog weeks before. Police said Longo, the owner of the other dog, had plotted revenge, and when the walker, identified the dog as “Zoey,” Longo shot the dog multiple times.
Longo was contacted at his home and taken into custody without incident.
