(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Monday, Feb. 5, 2024, local authorities received 911 calls about a man in distress. The unidentified man was standing on the edge of a bridge over Monument Creek, in a precarious position. He was expressing a desire to end his life.
The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported on Saturday, Feb. 10, that a group of “good samaritans” came to the aid of the distraught man, consoled him, and were able to convince him to come away from the bridge.
CSPD said, “[We] would like to thank the unknown citizens who came to the aid of someone in great distress. This situation may have ended much differently had they not called 911 and intervened.”
If you’re experiencing a mental health crisis, the easiest way to ask for help is to dial 988.
