(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A man is under arrest on Attempted Murder and Kidnapping charges after he allegedly tried to kill someone, and was found dragging an elderly man down a hall when police arrived.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 13, officers responded to the 2800 block of Pinnacle Drive on the southeast side of Colorado Springs after someone had called police saying a family member was trying to kill them.
When officers arrived, CSPD said they immediately entered the home and saw the suspect dragging an elderly man down a hallway. The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Charles Tanis, saw the officers and released the elderly man, then barricaded himself inside a bedroom.
CSPD said additional officers responded and set up containment around the home, and when Tanis tried to escape by crawling out a window, police used a non-lethal weapon and Tanis was taken into custody.
CSPD said Tanis was uninjured in the incident and was booked into the Criminal Justice Center. He is facing charges of Attempted First Degree Murder and Second Degree Kidnapping.
