24 inches of snow could hit Colorado region over next few days

More snow is lining up to hit Colorado between Wednesday and Saturday morning of this week, according to the National Weather Service.

The forecasting service shows that the heaviest totals will be mostly limited to the northern and northwest regions of Colorado, with the most snow expected in the area of Steamboat Springs – specifically on peaks found east of the city. In the most likely scenario, this part of the state gets about two feet of snow.

Meanwhile, the area around Winter Park and Grand Lake should get about a foot of snow. Peaks north of Vail and those southwest of Aspen could also see around six inches, maybe a little more.

In the one-in-10 chance ‘high end’ snowfall scenario, totals are a little deeper and more widespread in the aforementioned regions, but limited snow is still expected in the majority of the state.

Popular forecasting service OpenSnow is also calling for rounds of snow to hit over the next few nights in a similar area to what’s being predicted by the National Weather Service, also calling for another round of snow on Sunday night. The resort that should get the most is Steamboat Resort, to the tune of 20 inches – see OpenSnow’s full resort-by-resort breakdown here.
