The Pikes Peak Continuum of Care (PPCOC) has been awarded a $2.8 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This grant will support PPCOC’s work to address homelessness. The grant was presented by HUD’s Rocky Mountain Regional Administrator, Dominique Jackson, and Colorado Springs Mayor Yemi Mobolade, among others.
This grant is part of a larger $3.16 billion investment by the federal government in the Continuum of Care program. This program is a key part of the U.S. strategy to address homelessness. Amber Ptak, CEO of the Community Health Partnership, which manages the PPCOC, thanked HUD for their significant investment. The funds will support programs that help people secure and maintain housing.
Local leaders have also successfully provided housing stability for 101 households in El Paso County through Emergency Housing Vouchers. This initiative is part of the House America challenge, which Colorado Springs joined in 2022. The vouchers were distributed by the Colorado Springs Housing Authority and Colorado Health Partnership, with support from Homeward Pike Peak and Springs Rescue Mission.
