Fugitive from Utah found after a break-in on Academy Boulevard

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A fugitive out of Utah was arrested after allegedly breaking into a business in the early morning of Thursday, Feb. 15 in Colorado Springs, according to police.

The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said on Thursday, at around 2:15 a.m. officers were called to a burglary in progress at a business in the 7600 block of North Academy Boulevard north of East Woodmen Road.

Police were told by the caller that they had been notified by an alarm and found a man still inside the business rummaging through the store.

According to CSPD, The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Sean Hayes, had used a rock to break the glass door and was setting items outside the door. Police arrived on the scene and took Hayes into custody without incident.

CSPD said after Hayes’ arrest, they found out he was also a fugitive from Utah with an active warrant.
