UPDATE: Shelter-in-place lifted after suspect arrested

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The shelter-in-place in the Harvest Court area has been lifted after the suspect was taken into custody shortly after 9 p.m.

CSPD said the suspect surrendered peacefully, and a Peak Alert was issued lifting the shelter-in-place.

CSPD said the incident began shortly before 6 p.m. on Thursday, when a suspect inside a home on Harvest Court fired multiple shots inside and outside the home when officers arrived. No officers or bystanders were injured, CSPD said.

According to a Colorado Springs Police Department spokesperson on the scene, the incident on Harvest Court began as a domestic disturbance that escalated when at least one shot was fired at responding law enforcement.

CSPD said the suspect remains barricaded in the home, and the shelter-in-place remains active.

A shelter-in-place has been issued for a neighborhood northeast of Austin Bluffs Parkway and Barnes Road due to a barricaded suspect.
