The Colorado Springs community is celebrating the legacy of the first African American military unit

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) -The Springs community is set to celebrate the 158th anniversary of the Buffalo Soldiers, pivotal African American regiments formed in 1866. After the Civil War, these soldiers were among the first African Americans stationed in Colorado Territory, where they played a key role in developing the American West by establishing telegraph lines and protecting stagecoach routes.
