Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is in hog heaven with a new arrival

(Colorado Springs, CO) On August 29th, 2024, a new Red River hoglet joined the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo family.

The baby was born to Finn, a first-time mom, and Gus, a first-time dad.

Some might recall that Augustus (Gus) was born at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in August 2022. His name was inspired by his birth month. The little guy who was zooming around his enclosure and wallowing in the dirt two years ago is now a dad!

The newest arrival is adorable, with brown and white stripes and spots that provide extra camouflage for the first six months of life.

It is the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo‘s tradition to wait 30 days before naming a new baby, so stay tuned for the gender and name reveal.

Guests can visit the hog family in their habitat in the African Rift Valley.
