Salvation Army facing critical need for donations for food pantry

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Salvation Army food pantry is facing an urgent challenge and is running out of food that help those in need and is calling on the community’s help.

The Salvation Army said the food pantry is almost out of food and without the help of the community the shelves may soon be empty, leaving hundreds without the essential nourishment they need.

Any donation of food or money no matter the size will help keep the food pantry doors open, according to The Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army located at 908 Yuma Street, or the Shops at Briargate Offices next to the Pottery Barn at 1885 Briargate Parkway are places where people can donate non-perishable food items on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Donations can also be given online at HelpColoradoSprings.com and The Salvation Army said every $5 donated helps provide a meal.

The Salvation Army is also encouraging families, neighborhoods, churches, and businesses to host a food drive for The Salvation Army
