Colorado Springs restaurant Chaang Thai temporarily closed after SUV crashed into dining room

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Chaang Thai, a local eatery that has been in the Colorado Springs area for more than 10 years, is now temporarily closed for repairs after an SUV crashed into its restaurant on Tuesday, Sept. 10.

According to the Owner and Chef Suwanna Meyer, the incident happened around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, and she told FOX21 News, that luckily there were no customers or staff in the dining room at the time.

In a post on Facebook , Chef Meyer gave a glimpse into the major damages to Chaang Thai, which is located at 7525 North Academy Boulevard near the Chapel Hills area. One video showed the vehicle with its hazards on after the driver crashed into the restaurant.

Videos also showed that the front doors to the eatery were destroyed and glass was seen shattered just about everywhere. Wooden tables inside were also damaged.

In one of the last videos shared on Facebook, the SUV was seen being towed out of the restaurant, and officers with the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) were investigating.
