On Saturday, Sept. 21, Keese’s name, along with more than 300 others, was read during the annual memorial. This marks the first time in over a decade that a CSFD firefighter’s name has been etched into the wall.

Keese passed away on Oct. 20, 2023, due to risks related to firefighting. He joined CSFD in 1993 and served for 30 years, 24 of those years as a Driver/Engineer. His father also served as a Driver/Engineer starting in 1969.

The annual Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial ceremony honors those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Saturday’s event featured a procession of hundreds of motorcycles alongside dozens of fire engines, as well as a helicopter flyover before the reading of names before hundreds of firefighters and community members.
