Alleged UCCS shooter in court for arraignment Friday

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The alleged gunman in the Feb. 16 killing of Samuel Knopp and Celie Montgomery in a dorm on the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) campus will be in court for an arraignment hearing on Friday, Oct. 25.

According to arrest documents, the shooting suspect, Nicholas Jordan, was Knopp’s roommate at UCCS. Jordan was arrested on Feb. 19 following the shooting, and has had multiple hearings to determine whether he was competent to stand trial.

Preliminary hearing held for UCCS shooting suspect

On Aug. 2, a judge ruled that the defense had not met the burden of proof to demonstrate that Jordan had a disability that would impede his understanding of a trial and his ability to communicate and aid his defense. He appeared at a preliminary hearing in September, at which point the date was set for the formal reading of charges at the arraignment.

Jordan’s arraignment hearing is scheduled in El Paso County Court at 9:30 a.m.

FOX21 News will listen in to the hearing and provide updates as information becomes available.
