EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) –
Update at 5:49 p.m.: Colorado Springs Police sharing more details about the crash. It was a two-vehicle crash between a car and a heavy equipment truck. Three people were involved in the crash. One person died, and another is in stable condition at a local hospital. CSPD added, “The heavy equipment truck did leak fuel that has been safely contained by our partners at CSFD (Colorado Springs Fire Department), there is no environmental impact.”
The crash happened just after 10 a.m.
Update at 4:28 p.m.: Colorado Springs Police announced that I-25 has now reopened.
UPDATE: Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) confirmed to KRDO13 that one person died on the scene of the crash. Another person was transported to the hospital. CSPD says a third person was involved, but at this time their condition is unknown.
CSPD says detectives are on the scene investigating the cause of the crash. They say the highway will be closed in the area for several hours.
Colorado Springs Fire Department (CSFD) says a person has been rescued from the vehicle. They are now being transported to a local hospital.
