(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said a 31-year-old man was arrested as the suspect in a shooting that happened on Saturday, Oct. 5.
According to CSPD, on Oct. 5 at around 2:30 p.m. officers were called to the 1600 block of South Murray Boulevard near East Fountain Boulevard about reports of a shooting. CSPD said the shooting took place in a parking lot near where a youth football game was being played. A verbal altercation allegedly happened between two men before the shooting.
CSPD identified the suspect as 31-year-old Antivius Crowder and the victim was identified as 29-year-old Donte Maurice Rice by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office. CSPD said during the argument Crowder allegedly pulled out a firearm and fired at Rice, hitting him at least one time, Rice died on the scene.
On Thursday, Oct. 10 an arrest warrant was issued for Crowder for the charge of Murder in the First Degree. On Friday, Oct. 25 Crowder was taken into custody by members of CSPD’s Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force and the Tactical Enforcement Unit.
