COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – Colorado Springs police and Fountain police announced they were on accident alert Tuesday night due to slick road conditions. Accident alert is activated when a police station anticipates receiving a high volume of motor vehicle crashes and, due to severe weather, is unable to respond to all of them. When accident alert is in place, police will only respond to a collision if a car is undrivable due to damage, the accident involves a death or injury requiring medical assistance, alcohol or drugs are involved, the crash is an alleged hit-and-run, or if there is damage to a public property other than wildlife.
