(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said the victim of an assault and robbery who later died has been identified as 60-year-old Dwayne Easterling.
According to CSPD, on July 31 at around 6:30 officers responded to the 4400 block of East Fountain Boulevard near South Murray Boulevard about an assault in progress. When police arrived, they learned Easterling had been assaulted by unknown suspects and they stole items from him.
Easterling was taken to the hospital and on Aug. 14 he succumbed to his injuries. While the El Paso County Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death, CSPD is investigating the death as a homicide.
CSPD said the case is an active investigation and anyone with information or who was a witness is asked to contact CSPD at (719) 634-7867.
