Car crash puts out power for nearly 800 Colorado Springs residents UPDATE; power back on

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) –

UPDATE at 5:41 p.m.:

Power has been restored to all residents.

Colorado Springs Police told our photographer on the scene that the driver hit a ‘live switch’ which caused the power outage.

No one was taken to the hospital because of the crash.

Colorado Springs Utilities says 795 homes are without power. Colorado Springs Police say they’re responding to a car crash on N Academy Blvd where a truck crashed into a power pole and transformer and went into someone’s backyard.

The outage happened at 3:45 p.m. and CSU says they expect it to be fixed at 7:45 p.m.
