CSPD: Suspects forced off road during stolen car recovery

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Nov. 8, 2024, at about 9:29 a.m., officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) were dispatched to a neighborhood near Pikes Peak Avenue and South Circle Drive after a private GPS monitoring system alerted a vehicle theft victim that his car was there.

According to CSPD, Officers arrived in the 100 block of South Brentwood Drive and found the stolen vehicle parked in a driveway. Vevina Hernandez, 25, and Joaquin Rivera, 34, had attempted to drive away in the car but crashed into a parked vehicle as police arrived. Officers later forced the stolen car off the road and arrested Rivera and Hernandez without further incident.

Further investigation revealed that William Gragg, 48, had initially stolen the vehicle, said CSPD. Hernandez was arrested on charges of eluding and motor vehicle theft. Gragg was also arrested for motor vehicle theft. Rivera and four other adults at the home were arrested and booked into CJC on outstanding warrants.
