‘Out with a bang,’ Air Force closes home schedule with 28-0 shutout of Oregon State

Camby Goff intercepted a pass. Jamari Bellamy broke up a third-down throw, then Jerome Gaillard Jr. did the same. Grant Uyl made a stop on fourth down. Osaro Aihie had a sack. Jared Roznos hauled in a 25-yard pass.

One by one, the Air Force seniors took turns making big plays that added up to an astounding 28-0 shutout of Oregon State in the home finale at Falcon Stadium.

“Just go out with a bang at Falcon Stadium means a lot,” said Goff, who made his 20th and final start on this field. “I feel like we’re also making a turn as a team.”

Yes, there’s also that. The Falcons are most certainly back.

Air Force (3-7) had entered last week riding a seven-game losing streak. Then it blasted Fresno State, keeping possession for more than 45 minutes. This performance was even better, taking on a kinda, sorta Power Five team that led the nation in time of possession and dominating the stat sheet.

Air Force led 23-9 in first downs, 409-175 in total yards and 41:56-18:04 in time of possession. Oregon State (4-6) was just 2-of-10 on third down, 1-of-4 on fourth down and never reached the red zone.
