(EL PASO COUNTY, Colo.) — The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office (EPSO) said a teen driver was issued a “hefty” citation for driving 126 mph on Highway 24 after only recently getting their license back.
According to EPSO , a deputy working on DUI enforcements over the weekend of Nov. 16 pulled over a 17-year-old who was going 126 mph in a 65 mph zone. EPSO said the teen then presented a paper copy of their driver’s license because they had just received it back after a previous suspension.
EPSO said the driver was issued a “hefty ticket” with a mandatory court date for speeding, speed contest, reckless driving, and no proof of insurance.
“Parents- this is an excellent example while talking to your kids about their driving habits, the consequences of breaking the law, and the dangers of reckless driving,” EPSO said.
