(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department responded to a hit-and-run on Wednesday, Jan. 1 involving a car and a building.
On Wednesday at around 7:36 a.m., police received a 911 call involving a crash where a car had struck a building in the 700 block of West Garden of the Gods Road, near Chestnut Street and I-25. The car had left the scene and whenever an officer crossed paths with the run vehicle, a stop was attempted but the driver did not stop.
Officers did not pursue the car, instead, they responded to the address of the registered owner of the car where they stopped it in the parking lot of an apartment complex. According to CSPD, the driver was not intoxicated but was an adult with a learner’s permit who was trying to teach themselves how to drive.
CSPD says no one was injured, and the building had very minimal damage.
