(SOUTHERN COLORADO) — The first week of January has brought a few different snow chances to the area and some much cooler temperatures. Colorado is no stranger to the ups and downs of our local weather, but what do the final numbers look like for the region? Here’s where we stand:
The average temperature for 2024 was 52.7 degrees which is 2.3 degrees above normal. That may not sound like a huge difference, but it’s enough to rank 2024 as the second warmest on record for the Springs. The current record was set back in 2012.
On the other side of the heat, Southern Colorado also often deals with the snow and ice. Colorado Springs specifically recorded nearly 60 inches of snow for the year. That puts the city at the number 10 spot since records began in 1894.
For folks in Pueblo, 2024 was also an exceptionally warm year. The average temperature for 2024 was 55.2 degrees which was 2 degrees warmer than usual. Those 2 extra degrees were enough to make 2024 the 5th warmest year on record for Pueblo.
As for snow, stats weren’t quite as impressive this year. The city saw 26.6 inches which was 1.7 inches below normal. Pueblo did however receive 14.54 inches of precipitation which places the city in the top 25 for their records.
