COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) – With extremely cold temperatures ahead, it is a good reminder to be aware of the risks cold weather can pose to your pets.
Both cats and dogs should be kept inside during cold weather. The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) said many people believe that pets are more resistant to the cold than humans, but it is not true.
The AVMA said pets are also susceptible to frostbite and hypothermia, and while thick-coated pets like Huskies can be better suited for cold temperatures, they still shouldn’t be in below-freezing temperatures for long periods of time…
