(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) said in the evening hours of Wednesday, May 7, officers arrested a felony suspect who barricaded themselves into a home near I-25 and Austin Bluffs Parkway.
On Wednesday, a little before 11:30 p.m., police got a call about a possible wanted party in the 300 block of Mount View Lane off of North Nevada Avenue south of Austin Bluffs Parkway. Officers confirmed the person in the home was Antonio Ulfers, a man CSPD said was wanted on felony weapon charges out of El Paso County.
When police arrived, they contacted Ulfers, who barricaded themselves inside the home. After several attempts to contact Ulfers by phone and by intercom on scene, the Tactical Enforcement Unit (TEU) was notified of the situation. While the TEU was on the way, officers escalated their tactics and fired two rounds of 40mm through the windows. Ulfers remained barricaded.
Once a TEU supervisor arrived, it was decided to breach the front door and continue warnings of escalation. Ulfers ultimately surrendered and was taken into custody without further incident…
