CSPD: Stolen car causes crash on Platte & Murray, one arrested

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) reported that a crash between two vehicles at the intersection of East Platte Avenue and North Murray Boulevard occurred on the morning of Sunday, May 11, when a stolen car ran a red light.

According to CSPD, around 9 a.m., officers responded to the crash and found that a stolen Hyundai had run the red light and hit another vehicle that had the right-of-way. The driver of the stolen car, identified as 29-year-old Angelo Espinoza, was found to have a handgun in his possession.

CSPD reported that speed, drugs, and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash. Espinoza was arrested for DUI, DUID, multiple criminal charges, and outstanding felony warrants…
