Elbert County man sentenced for DUI crash injuring family

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. — An Elbert County man was sentenced on Monday for a crash that left a child and two others seriously injured in 2024.

Chase Lein, 32, was sentenced to 25 years in prison for a DUI crash that injured several members of a family, according to the news release. In March, Lein pleaded guilty to felony vehicular assault and felony child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.

Lein admitted to driving under the influence on April 10, 2024, when he ran a red light and crashed his truck at the intersection of Chambers Road and Mainstreet in Parker, the release says. His truck struck a Hyundai carrying three people, including a 12-year-old child who was ejected from the car upon impact, police said.
