(PIKES PEAK REGION, Colo.) — When a storm blew the roof off a Humane Society in Kentucky back in April, staff and volunteers acted fast to get every animal to safety. One dog, Cosmo, wound up in Colorado, but he still had some struggles to overcome.
The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) said when Cosmo arrived, they noticed two things: Cosmo was basically sunshine with fur, and that he was not putting weight on his front left leg. After HSPPR imaged Cosmo’s leg, they discovered his elbow had some serious damage.
HSPPR’s veterinary team put their heads together and decided the best path forward was to amputate the leg. Cosmo had a successful surgery and is currently recovering in foster care.
Cosmo’s foster reports he is sweet, adores kids and grown-ups, plays well with other dogs, is fully house-trained, crate-comfy, and is a cuddle wizard…
