DENVER (KDVR) — South Metro Fire Rescue and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a house fire in Douglas County just after midnight Saturday that the agencies are attributing to improperly discarded fireworks.
DCSO, in a post on X, said the fire started outside of a garage at a house on Pebblewood Court after used fireworks were discarded in a plastic trash can.

No one was seriously injured in the fire, including humans and a dog and two cats, according to the sheriff’s office.
DCSO said its deputies found the garage and fence on fire at the house in the Stonegate neighborhod upon arrival, with the homeowners still inside attempting to save their pets.
